Brian: My Dad's Beetle
He stood in my front garden for 5 months until I was able to get him off to the body shop for some 'minor' welding and bodywork. As the work progressed more and more bad spots were found, until what had intended to be a simple job turned out to be a full 'body off' restoration for the chassis and underlying body parts.
The final tally of replacement panels almost amounts to a complete spares list for the car !
He was finally bolted back together the night before we departed to Newquay in Cornwall for the 1999 Run To The Sun, where he performed excellently.
The suspension has been lowered 2½" all round and the brakes have been up rated by fitting disks to the front.
